It works fine with Gimp, Paint Tool SAI and Paint Shop Pro X4.
23 coat colors : -bay, -seal bay, -dark bay, -sooty bay -black, -faded black -chestnut, -liver chestnut, -mealy chestnut, -light grey, -dark grey, -buckskin, -sooty buckskin, -palomino, -smoky black -cremello, -albino, -smoky cream -grullo, -red dun -classic champagne -chimera x2 22 white patterns : -3x tobiano, -2x overo, -2x tovero, -2x splash white, -3x sabino, -3x roan, -3x appaloosa pattern, -2x rabicano, -manchado, -birdcatcher spots 5 non-white patterns : -dapples, -brindle, -reverse brindle, -Bend-Or spots, -zebra pattern for body+mane and tail 6 variations of leg markings (white stockings and stripes) 7 variations of face markings 2 eye colors (blue and brown) 4 hooves colors 12 mane and tail colors shading and lighting of full body and mane and tail
Try to manipulate the opacity of shadows layer and all the pattern layers. Lighter coats (albino, light grey) require lighter shades and dapples on darker coats (bay, liver chesnut) look better when the opacity level is low.
Also if You are working with any other program then Gimp 2.6 the layers modes might not work properly. The shadows layer should be set to the multiply mode and the lights layer to the overaly/soft light/something like that mode as well as the Brindle, Bend-Or Spots and Dapples layers.
You can : edit it, that means adding new colors and markings use it for point adoptables (I would really appreciate it if You could donate to me some of the income from adoptables made with this) use it for Your OC reference sheet use it in any SIM/RPG games BUT HOWRSE! basically use it in any other way
You can't : use it as a GA coat in howrse use it without giving me credit claim as Your own
You may : let me know what could I improve tell me to make more colors (or make them yourself) show me Your work :3 (You don't have to, but plz do, I wanna see!)
Download for .psd file (can be opened with SAI, Gimp and many other programms). Have fun!
EDIT 1 : fixed white patterns; fixed manes; 7 more coat colors; 2 more white patterns; 4 new mane and tail colors.
EDIT 2 : fixed leopard appaloosa pattern; 3 more coat colors; 4 more white patterns; 2 more non-white patterns; 2 more face markings.
EDIT 3 : fixed some color layers that were sticking out the lineart; 1 more coat color; added zebra pattern; 6 more white patterns.

Ya know I really hate to bug , reason being you have worked really super duper hard on this and it's truly amazing it really is . I know prob this will never happen but if someday could you make a flash version . My computer has been in and out of the shop for 4 weeks and I REALLY REALLY REALLY REALLY ( billion grill lion trillion million quilon x it again ) want to make these horse but my mother won't let me download anything to my computer Because of it being in and out . But if there would be anyway I could help with this I would hands down no matter what ( well ya know things happen ) but I will try my hardest PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE PKEASE make a flash version if you can thanks Love ,
Oh god, I'm so sorry Dear... I have no idea about flash whatsoever... And not much time at the moment to learn how to use it. I've been thinking about flash version of horse creator as well, but I don't know anyone who could help me or do it for me. If I get some free time, I'll try my best to do something about it. Sorry again...
First You need a program that works with PSD files. The best of course is Photoshop (I don't have it so...), but Gimp or Paint Tool SAI will work as well. Then You just open the file and click little eye button next to each layer You want to be visible. There are coat layers, hair layers, shading layers etc. After You make Your horse, just save the picture and it's done.
and how do you use it
Used it here, I hope everything is correct: [link] & [link]
